Mac Miller released his latest studio album Swimming last month, but now reports are coming in that the talented 26-year-old musician has passed away from a drug overdose at his San Fernando Valley home.
Born Malcolm James McCormick, Mac was recently charged with a DUI after crashing his car into a pole in Los Angeles. Shortly after the accident, his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande posted a statement about their former relationship saying she “cared for him and tried to support his sobriety.”
According to local law enforcement, the Pittsburgh rapper was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mac recently visited NPR for a special performance as part of their ongoing Tiny Desk concert series, which he followed up with an appearance on The Late Show.
