Nicki Minaj Blasts Spotify, Travis Scott & Kylie After No. 2 “Queen” Debut

Nicki Minaj’s Queen album debuted at number two on the charts after losing a close race to Travis Scott’s critically-acclaimed third studio effort Astroworld, which was released seven days prior.

The project managed to move over 190,000 units in one week, but Nicki is dissatisfied with the results and logged on to Twitter earlier today to vent her frustrations.

Minaj explained that she lost 12 hours of sales when her LP was released late on Friday. During the debut episode of Queen Radio she was heard arguing with label executives trying to get the project released on time, already realizing the impact of a late drop.

She also revealed that Queen made it to the top position in 86 countries, unfortunately just not in the US where people generally turn for industry benchmarks.

Nicki says she spoke with Travis on the phone and that he admitted to not really having the top album, citing merchandise ventures and tour passes to meet Kylie Jenner and their child Stormi for Astroworld’s second week success.

The New York rapper didn’t stop there, taking aim at Spotify for trying to “teach her a lesson.”

“Spotify put Drake’s face on every playlist but told me they’d have to teach me a lesson for playing my music 10 mins early on . Even tho they’ve been giving away my music for free for years & I am one of the top Spotify artists of all time,” she tweeted.

“Spotify had to teach me a lesson but rewarded the man who has had an Apple radio show the longest; inadvertently helping the Apple platform the most. Oh I can’t wait for on Tuesday. They took away my promotion they had promised for the 1st cpl days b/c of this. , Nicki added.

The disgruntled artist went on to claim the reason her label didn’t support her in the argument was that they feared further repercussions from Spotify during the release of “Bed” and “The Light Is Coming” collaborator Ariana Grande’s new album Sweetener.

Continuing to come at Spotify, Minaj rhetorically asked how many followers she has on the platform. The answer is 12,135,042 at the time of posting. Nicki is the 18th most listened to artist in the world on the music streaming service.
