Bobby Shmurda and the GS9 crew were reportedly arrested last night at Quad Studios says Karen Civil.
The reason they were picked up by police has yet to be revealed, but it’s being reported that a variety of weapons were removed from the studio following the incident. Epic Records EVP of Urban A&R, Sha Money XL (the man who signed Bobby to the label), was also reportedly taken into custody at the studio, but information on the charges has not been made available.
This Summer it was reported that the New York rapper was arrested for gun possession, but details about that case haven’t been made available either.
UPDATE: Epic Records A&R Sha Money XL was not arrested as previously reported. He released a statement stating:
“I was not arrested. They held me until they searched the studio then let me go. I signed these kids to give them a better way in life not to be dragged down by the media and gunned down by the 40 cops that raided the studio and pointed guns at me for working my job. You have no idea how this makes me feel or look when I’m one of the only few black men signing black artist from the streets and giving them a chance to do better in life.”
Additional details about the arrest has been made as well. 20 weapons were recovered from the 16 men arrested and Kati Cornell, director of public information in the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor, says that there is a sealed indictment on GS9, which will be revealed today in court. It is being widely reported that charges stem from involvement with drug trafficking and gun violence.
UPDATE #2: Bail has been reportedly set at $2 million. The NYPD says “Bobby Shmurda is part of GS9 crips and is responsible for 24 Brooklyn shootings.”
UPDATE #3: Added a list of charges against Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel including attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and more.
