Drake has landed himself in yet another lawsuit, this time over the intro to his “Pound Cake” record featuring an uncleared sample of Jazz musician Jimmy Smith, who passed away in 2005. Smith’s estate is seeking $300,000 from the Canadian rap superstar for using the piece without permission. Additionally, Drake lied about it in his Nothing Was The Same album liner notes claiming that the song WAS legitimately licensed. Oh Drizzy, when are you going to learn to play by the rules?
Oh well, we all know everyone loved “Pound Cake,” the song probably netted Drake enough money to still leave him in profit after he pays the price for his dumb decision.
