Rap lawsuits are a pretty common thing of late. Drake, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Pharrell and plenty of others are up to their ears in paperwork this tax season and now Mac Miller can be added to the list as well.
TMZ reports 70s band Aquarian Dream is suing Mac Miller for ripping off their single “Yesterday (Was So Nice Today)” and using it on the track “Faces,” which appeared on his free mixtape of the same title (that has since been removed from Datpiff).
According to reports, Mac’s camp tried to contact Aquarian Dream to get approval to sample the song, but ended up using it anyway when they didn’t get a response. “Faces” has been downloaded over 700,000 times and as a result Aquarian Dream is seeking $150,000 in damages.
