Drake is giving back to the community, only not his own. The If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late rapper recently donated $75,000 to Strawberry Mansion High School in Philadelphia.
Drizzy was impacted by a news report he had seen about the state of the school and their non-existent music program, so he began working last Summer to supply them with instruments and recording equipment. It wasn’t until last month however, that Strawberry Mansion was able to launch their program because violence and lack of funds made it difficult to secure an instructor.
Ben Diamond will head the program much to the delight of school principal Linda Cliatt-Wayman who had this to say, “We thought we were going to be ready to go in September. They’ve been dying to get in.”
Cliatt-Wayman also expressed how much the students appreciate Drake’s gift, and were quickly making use of all the new resources to produce music together.
Congratulations to Drake and more importantly, the students at Strawberry Mansion High School.
